Antique Georgian Sterling Silver Gilt Pavé Turquoise Heart Locket, c.1790 - 1840! Charm Pendant

A gorgeous and exquisite, example of a rare, enchanting early Georgian Victorian or earlier Pendant Locket in the form of an elegantly shaped puffy heart. Sure to become a fabulous addition to your charm bracelet or necklace. Perfect for display in a glass case. Featuring a series of circular gems and a glazed hair compartment on reverse (an oval circle swing open & close glass back bezel), which works properly. Beautiful repoussé work. The original heart-shaped glass top is hinged is firm and lifts to open. These are becoming so hard to find and are escalating in price daily.  The original tiny keepsake red fabric which is (100% removable) is also included. This three piece sculptural and curvilinear pavé setting with multiple small turquoise gemstones are masterfully crafted individually on the heart. The chain enhancer with (3) stones is removable and completely detachable. The gems are set extremely close together and feature a smooth cobblestone pattern close to the surface. Gives the appearance that the surface of this fine jewelry is “paved” with gemstones. Simply Exquisite... During the early and late Victorian periods use of turquoise in fine jewelry was highly desired and most popular. With over (120) finely sculpted and carved smooth cabochons of genuine, untreated, natural turquoise you can rest assured this stunning one-of-a-kind piece took many days if not weeks to design & masterfully create. The settings are so close together that only the teeny tiny metal prongs are exposed between. Under a loop they took like extremely tiny hand-crafted silver burrs were used to hold the lovely stones in place. Could be persian turquoise. They are fine quality. Not a brooch, there is a very tiny stamped marking that looks like it possibly reads "800" for sterling on the "o" of the bail. Possibly an English antique this piece has a nice wide jump ring which remains in place to slip a chain through if you prefer to add it to a necklace. The stones are not paste they are genuine gems. The heart pendant was originally accompanied by a 14k & 18k yellow gold & persian hue blue turquoise beaded strand chain which is NOT SHOWN and is not included. If you wish for us to add the matching necklace, simply ask. We will be happy to do so. Condition: The crystal glazed glass on the back's reverse keepsake box is in MINT CONDITION with not a single scratch to it's surface, contained a small plait of light blond hair which is included with this purchase, The glass covering on the back can be lifted so that an important keepsake could be placed inside. You could even place your own fine treasure inside! Sometimes these rare pendants held a mourning keepsake or small photo etc; The entire setting is in Very good condition considering it's age; back's enameled gilt silver has medium wear and light surface wear (shown), a minimal revival repair appears to have been made to one of the stones to the very far left side. Normal wear to two of the stones along the outer edge, you can't see it unless you are really searching hard with a microscope, as the wear is so small it could not be photographed; front is in excellent overall condition with expected variations in color to gilt and the stones shapes since they are each completely hand-crafted pavé-set turquoise.
