Description

A gorgeous and exquisite, example of a rare, enchanting early Georgian Victorian or earlier Pendant Locket. In the form of an elegantly shaped puffy heart. Sure to become a fabulous addition to your charm bracelet or necklace. Perfect for display in a glass case. Featuring a series of circular gems. The glazed glass hair compartment on reverse (an oval circle swing open & close glass back bezel), locket portion of the pendant was broken, so it was subsequently removed. Beautiful repoussé work. These are becoming so hard to find and are escalating in price daily. Due to it's extreme rarity, you would pay a small fortune for this gorgeous 'work of art' at a finer antique or vintage estate jewelry store (over $400 - $700) so this represents a wonderful opportunity to own a beautiful antique treasure at such a great price. This tiny keepsake heart is very elegantly crafted. This two piece sculptural and curvilinear pavé setting with multiple small turquoise gemstones are masterfully crafted individually on the heart. The chain enhancer with (2) stones is removable and completely detachable. The gems are set extremely close together and feature a smooth cobblestone pattern close to the surface. Gives the appearance that the surface of this fine jewelry is “paved” with gemstones. Simply Exquisite...

During the early and late Victorian periods use of turquoise in fine jewelry was highly desired and most popular. With nearly (30) finely sculpted and carved smooth cabochons of genuine, untreated, natural Persian turquoise (the color of sleeping beauty turquoise) you can rest assured this stunning one-of-a-kind piece took many days if not weeks to design & masterfully create. The settings are so close together that only the teeny tiny metal prongs are exposed between. Under a loop they took like extremely teeny tiny hand-crafted silver burrs were used to hold the lovely stones in place. Gemstones are of the finest quality.

Not a brooch, there is a very tiny stamped marking that looks like it possibly reads "800" or "900" sterling on the "o" of the bail. Possibly an English antique this piece has a nice ring which remains in place to slip a chain through if you prefer to add it to a necklace. The stones are not paste they are genuine gems. The heart pendant was originally accompanied by a 14k & 18k yellow gold & persian hue blue long turquoise beaded strand chain which is NOT SHOWN and is not included.

Condition: MINT CONDITION sterling is smooth with no defects to it's surface, once contained a small plait of light blond hair which is not included with this purchase, however, the glass covering that used to be on the back can be lifted so that an important keepsake could be placed inside. Sometimes these rare pendants held a mourning keepsake or small photo etc; The hallmark is so small it could not be photographed; front and back are in excellent overall condition with expected variations in color to the stones shapes since they are each completely hand-crafted pavé-set turquoise.

Measurements:

• LENGTH: 1- inches = (25mm) in total length including the gem-set curvy enhancer which fits into the oblong “O” fitting.

• DEPTH: slightly over 1/3 inch in depth = 10mm or (1 cm)

Approx. Date: Circa late 1700 – 1840
